AbstractThe objective of this study was to evaluate four narrow-band indices for estimating pigment concentration (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, chlorophyll total and carotenoids), suggested by different authors, during the phenological development of soybean culture (Glycine max [L.], Merril). An experiment in green house conditions was conducted and it was verified that two indices (PSSR and PSND, both proposed by Blackburn, 1998a)showed direct correlation to pigment variations; the third indice (SIPI proposed by Pe¤uelas et al.,1995)showed inverse correlation; and RARS (proposed by Chapelle et al., 1992)was no sensitive to variations for the studied pigments, during the different phenological phases of soybean canopy.
